Job hunting used to be primarily about reading advertisements and picking up applications, filing them out and returning them to the potential employer. With the internet that has changed. Information is available immediately in real time and the job opportunities can be accessed from anywhere, anytime. First impressions are now made by the quality of what you write before a prospective employer will even send you an email, or call you on the telephone. The ability to use the previous standards for job hunting are necessary, however their execution are different. Those procedures included writing in full sentences, not using abbreviations, having personal information available. 1.Use the correct application process for online applications. When filling out an online application have your categories of information available. They include personal information such as name, age, address, contact information and social security number. The next set of information is work experience followed by educational qualifications with information, and lastly your references, This information allows the prospective employer at first glance see if you closely match the job opening. 2.Remember basic language rules. When filling out the application write (type in)your answers as if you are actually speaking with the hiring manager. Use full sentences, spell words out fully, try to keep the tone of the application formal and professional. Your online application is the equivalence of the old way of going in and asking for an application. It gives a prospective employer a peak at your professionalism. 3.Get straight to the point. Answer questions by using the KISS rule: Keep It Simple St----.! You already know the basic questions that will be asked of you. Prepare your answers so that when you fill out your application you can format your information sensibly, professionally and more importantly to the point. Lengthy answers that are not well formed may bore your interviewer to tears. Keep your answer short enough to satisfy the answer required and full of appropriate information. Using new methods to get a jobs still requires the “old”methodologies. Become familiar with them, write out an outline to have handy to assist you when filling out your online applications.
